Dear family of Lyla, I was so sad to hear of your Mum’s passing. We go back many years…we rode the little yellow school bus together to Chinook (she was one grade higher than me) & Cereal schools and were bussed to Oyen High School for Home Economics where Mrs. Kunert taught us how to cook, sew, set a formal dining table, how to sit like a lady, etc. Lyla worked hard doing farm chores before boarding that bus; then applied herself to her studies. She was smart. She was spunky and I loved her sparkling eyes. We met again at Cereal’s Centennial and had a fabulous visit! I will miss her and to you, her loving family, her memories will linger in your hearts forever. Fondly, Bonnie Brotherston(nee Proudfoot)

I golfed with Lyla at Douglasdale course for many years. Always enjoyed her company. We also spent many years line dancing with Chinook Country Line Dancers. Will miss her. Condolences to her family. Barb Gerber

Lyla was a wonderful neighbour on Douglas Woods Rise until 2016. I admired how she was always so full of energy, walking long distances every day and working daily to maintain her beautiful gardens. She was the first one out shovelling her walk and driveway of snow in the winter. She was a delightful person to talk to, especially about plants and flowers. Lyla was wonderful school mate & a beautiful adult inside & out. We enjoyed our visits & golf games after our retirements. Also two hikes down the Grand Canyon. Was sorry to hear of her resent health issues and know she is now resting in peace. Our deepest sympathy to Lyla's family. Judie & Derwood Mcleod.
