Dear Heather, Shane and families - we were so sorry to hear about Lloyd. We have many fond memories of Lloyd with his blue eyes and gentle demeanour. He was so friendly as was your mom. They always attended when the Leftovers played at Esther enjoying the visiting and dancing. Cherish the wonderful memories you have and find comfort that your parents are together again.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.

I always enjoyed visiting with Lloyd & Maxine. Maxine was my grade one teacher. One of my favorite memories was in July 1075, I bought a new 1975 Chevy pickup. Picked it up at the dealer and drove out to Esther to see my brother, Phil who was working for Lloyd that summer. I got to the farm in the evening, parked the truck. The next morning after breakfast, Lloyd, a Ford enthusiast, wanted a ride in my new truck. We got in and started it, I put it in gear and it would not move. Upon checking the transmission, found all the oil had leaked out. Lloyd gave me a case of transmission fluid and off to the dealer I went to get my new truck repaired. I was mad but Lloyd was very good about it, didnt rib me too much about driving a Chev. Glad I was able to see him last summer when I was in Canada. He was a great father and mentor to Shane and Heather.

My thoughts and prayers are with Shane, Heather Westerlund and their families at this time. Lloyd and Maxine hold a very special place in my heart. They were like a second father and mother to me. Maxine was my Grade 2 & 3 teacher. She was an amazing teacher. When Shane and Heather came along I was there babysitter. I worked every summer for Maxine and Lloyd during my High School years. I would look after Shane and Heather plus help with the meals while Maxine was working outside with Lloyd. I certainly learned to become a better cook because of Maxine. When I went to Business college in Calgary I stayed with Maxine. She moved to Calgary while Shane attended Deaf School. Maxine taught school and her mother Sadie Heatherington babysat Heather. It was great living with them. We would go home to Esther on weekends. Over the years I always kept in touch with them. The Westerlunds were good friends with my parents Beth and Jeff Barnett. Shane and Heather cherish the wonderful memories of your parents. They were always so proud of your accomplishments in life. It is nice they are now in heaven together. They certainly earned their Angel wings. Beth Barnett sends her condolences to the Westerlund families.
