Obituary of Norman Dale Zimmerman

Much loved by family and everyone he encountered, Norm left this world peacefully on August 28, 2021 with his family present. Born on September 10, 1944 in Dayton, Ohio to Rev Norman and Pauline Zimmerman Sr., he spent his younger years in Ohio and then attended Bethel College in Mishawaka, Indiana, where he met and married Donna (Hoskins), his wife of 56 wonderful years together. Feeling a call upon his life, he entered pastoral ministry. After faithfully serving throughout the Midwest region of the United States, he then moved to Oyen AB in 1981. Norm and the family enjoyed 10 years in the quaint prairie town of Oyen before moving to pastor churches in Didsbury and Westbrook. He retired in 2018 and he and Donna settled back into a quiet life in Oyen. We thank God not only for all that was accomplished through his years of faithful service, caring and shepherding, but also for the years we were given with him as a husband, father and friend. He embodied the life of Jesus in his daily life. Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control were felt and experienced by everyone who had the privilege of being present with him. He is a gift that will be missed by many. In spite of our loss, there will be a gain as he is welcomed with a “well done” by the One who shaped his life and gives him eternal rest. Norm was preceded in death by his parents and his two siblings: Joy Baker and Karen Brady, both of Ohio. Left to cherish his memory are: his wife Donna of Oyen AB; three sons, Chris (Terri) of Sylvan Lake AB, Joel (Ronda) of Airdrie AB, and David (Tara) of Bragg Creek AB; foster daughter Jan Browning (Bob) of Wichita KS; 15 grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends. For everyone's safety and comfort, the family invite you to the celebration of life which will be live streamed on Monday September 6th, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. MDT at facebook.com/oyenemc The family would encourage you to view the livestream rather than attend in person.
