Obituary of Crystal Anna Huston

Crystal Anna (Harris) Huston was born the only daughter of six children to Leonard and Inez Harris on December 23rd, 1926. Being raised on the Oyen farm, she became a skilled horsewoman and could hold her own with her five brothers - Wayne, Bill, Lee, Jack and Alan. As a young girl, she was up at the crack of dawn filling milk bottles to deliver all over town with her horse and buggy; all before school started. While spending time in Calgary, she met and married Wallace Huston and moved to the Huston farm near Sibbald. Crystal's pride and joy were her five children: Dean (Carmela), Lyle (Rema), Sandra (Ed) Hogan, Peggy (Henry) Kozak and Dale (Shelley-Shaunna), along with her 11 grandchildren and 8 1/2 great grandchildren (one on the way!) Farm life was difficult, but Crystal never feared hard work alongside Wallace, where they raised their children, grain, cattle, chickens and pigs. She managed to squeeze in driving school bus for many years. After the kids left the nest, Wally and Crystal moved into their new home in Oyen where they enjoyed some well-deserved rest. New friendships were quickly made and Crystal continued to live in Oyen even after Wallace passed in 1996. Crystal's second home became Apache Junction, Arizona. She lived each winter, for 23 years in her parkmodel in the Road Haven Resort; where she became a legend in her own right. She involved herself in many activities such as shuffling, sewing, cards, music and much socializing with wonderful friends she made along the way. Her children visited her often to enjoy the warmth of Arizona and she used to say that she did not own a pair of winter boots for 23 years. Crystal loved her time in Arizona and earned numerous trophies in shuffling; traveling; from park to park with her never ending competitive spirit. She celebrated her 93rd birthday in Arizona. Her family is so grateful that she was happy and healthy for so long as a Snowbird and to be able to travel to China, Taiwan, the Caribbean and all over the US. Crystal had a wonderful life and she wanted to try everything at least once. She even rode a horse and a Harley on her 80th birthday. She had wonderful friends, worked hard, played hard and loved to dance. We know that Wally was waiting for this beautiful reunion on July 30th and we know they enjoyed their first dance in a long, long time. Just a quick sincere thank you from the family, to Sandra and Ed Hogan, for all the years they cared for and helped MOM. It was always greatly appreciated by her siblings. Crystal was pre-deceased by her parents Inez and Leonard Harris, husband Wallace Huston, brothers Bill, Wayne, Lee and Alan, daughter-in-law Shelley Huston (Dale) and grandson Chad Hogan (son of Sandra and Ed). Her family will miss her love for life, her infectious laugh and most of all; the love she had for her family. At the families request, they are wishing all who attend to be fully vaccinated due to the rise in COVID cases recently. A recording of the service is available below.
