Hi to Heather, Jason, Danielle and families…My most sincere condolences on Peter’s passing. A favorite memory associated with Peter was in June, 1980 when my family and I moved from Manitoba to Oyen, AB. I vividly recall Peter coming into the Pharmacy in early June and extending a “Welcome to Oyen” handshake. “Would you come to a Kinsmen meeting with me as my guest?” Of course I did and enjoyed many interesting experiences with Peter and Heather in the Kinsmen Club. It was always a pleasure to see Peter and Heather’s enthusiasm for performing in the New Brigden Drama Club. It was England’s loss but certainly Oyen’s gain for Peter and Heather to have emigrated to the “bald Canadian prairie” in 1970. We will remember you, Peter, with fondness and gratitude for your service to the community. RIP Peter….Sincerely Gordie Johnsen

I have such fond memories of my two years teaching (1988-90) at SCHS in Oyen with Peter at the helm as principal. I was a new teacher and his leadership and that of so many of the other teachers set me on a favourable path as an educator. My two years in Oyen taught me about teaching and being part of a community. Whether we were participating with the New Brigden drama group, hosting a storm party or a progressive dinner, or cleaning up chairs in the school gym, Peter was there. He was a sharp dresser and always had some pep in his step. I was privileged to get to know him, Heather, Jason, and Danielle.

Mr. White was a great teacher, kind and caring, with a sense of humour and fun. I was not an athletic person but he made me feel like I was when he commended me for my 7 mile bike rides into town from the farm. He and Mrs. White became valued members of our lives and our community and I thank them for that. Sincere condolences to Heather, Jason, Danielle and their families.

I have so many memories with Mr White as a student at South Central High School and an adult in the Community of Oyen. There is a memory which will forever be held in my heart. I was born with Tourette Syndrome so during exam time all the students were in a quiet gymnasium taking final exams where there is always an echo. My Tourette's meant I would be twitching and have vocal tics especially when nervous. Mr White made arrangements for me to be by myself in the science lab during every single final exam so that I didn't feel like I was disrupting other students. I will be forever grateful for this and thankful to him. As a principal, he was kind, funny, understanding but also strict when he needed to be and even when you knew you were in trouble you couldn't be mad at him.

My sincere condolences to Heather and family. I have fond memories of Peter as our vice principal and phys ed coach and coach of our volleyball team at high school in Oyen. I remember him as a very caring person and a wonderful coach. He made a real difference in a lot of students lives and will surely be missed.
