Ray Bruntjen

Obituary of Ray Bruntjen

Raymond was born October 27, 1949 in Oyen Alberta and passed away on June 11, 2026 at the age of 76.

He was the oldest child of two born to Herman Bruntjen and raised by Herman and Auntie Annie (mom).  He attended school in Esther, New Brigden and eventually took welding at SAIT. He started farming on his own at a young age.

He married his love, Norma Jean Bakowy on July 10, 1971 and began their life together on the farm. Ray was a true farm boy enjoying feeding his cattle, harvest season and helping Norma with her garden.

Raymond loved to spend time with his boys, enjoyed a cold beer, and never missed the opportunity to have a good laugh.

Raymond cherished the time he spent with his family and was especially proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter. He enjoyed visiting with friends, sharing stories, and lending a helping hand whenever it was needed. His sense of humour, kind heart, and straightforward nature will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. The memories he created and the friendships he built throughout his life will continue to be treasured by those fortunate enough to have shared in his journey.

He was predeceased by his father Herman Bruntjen, mom Annie Bruntjen, and wife Norma Bruntjen.

Raymond will be lovingly remembered by his special friend, Deidra Wenzel; his sons, Troy (Leigh) and Corey (Kelly); his sister, Maryanna Paterson; his grandchildren, Nicolas (Chloe), Emily, Morgan, Cash, Dontae, Payton, Serenity, Autum, and Amberley; and his great-granddaughter, Margot.
