Obituary of John Alexander MacKenzie

John Alexander Mackenzie (1944–2025)

John Alexander Mackenzie, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, in Consort, Alberta, at the age of 81, just weeks after celebrating his 81st birthday.

Born in Hanna, Alberta, on October 31, 1944, John grew up in Oyen and area. John’s greatest pride was his family. He will be lovingly remembered by his children: Holly Mackenzie (Allen McCauley) of Wainwright, Alberta, and her children Rheagan, Jeff, Sabrina, and Brent . John R. Mackenzie of Kuwait, and his children Kobe, Emma, and Madison.  Step- children Alynn (Mark) Heitman of Coaldale,Alberta and Pam (Terry) Laubenstein of Rolling Hills, Alberta.

John is survived by his brother, Everett Mackenzie of Medicine Hat, Alberta  whose bond with him was lifelong. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 41 years, Lynn Mackenzie; his sister Ethel Anderson; his father John F. Mackenzie and mother Myrtle; and step son Warren Mackenzie. 

John will be remembered for his toothless side grin, the mischievous twinkle in his eyes, and his unapologetically honest self. He spoke his mind freely—sometimes when asked, often when not—but those who loved him knew that behind his blunt words was a heart full of love and acceptance.

John’s service will be Thursday December 4th at 11:00 at the Senior's Center in Rolling Hills
Interment to follow in Rolling Hills Cemetery  
Lunch/snacks at the seniors center in Rolling Hills at 1:00
